It's not often I find a product that hits all the marks for me, especially when it comes to outdoor painting. Plein air painting can often be unpredictable and uncomfortable to set-up, especially when you find yourself having to carry an array of supplies that you believe will make the experience better. No longer are the days of fiddling around with my paint box to figure out the best outcome in comfort and practicality, because this little box does it all!
Not only is this dang cute, little box appealing to the eyes, but it’s so LIGHT..oh my gosh, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that. I’ve had my fair share of paint palettes with similar innovations, which have been amazing…but the one con that I’ve disliked, is how utterly clunky, loud, and sometimes, uncomfortable they can be to carry around. Paints and water cups can be heard banging around with each step I take…not to mention, how sometimes the palette box will dig right into my sides or back painfully. It’s such bliss to just snap those little palettes in without a worry that they’re going to be flying around in there.
Additionally, one of the best features is the tray palette…it not only holds my brushes and palette boxes safe and secure while I paint, but you can easily flip it around to be right or left-handed…very smart! Other products tend to have only one setting that must be decided at purchase. Also, the fact that the rotation can be altered to 180 degrees with a simple push is amazing. Other palettes usually require an unscrewing on the side to adjust. That, or they’re limited to the angles you can adjust it to.
Oh, and as mentioned before, not only is it super light, but the sizing is perfect! I was a bit nervous that painting box would become a bit awkward, since its size is smaller to others I’ve owned. But nope! It’s the perfect travel partner! Which makes plein airing even easier as you can easily fit the box into a small backpack or tote bag. Since, all the water/paint is already inside the boxed secured, you don’t have to worrying about lugging around additional supplies, which lightens the load immensely off your shoulders…literally. And if you’re worried that the weight affects its quality, not by a long shot! I really must praise all the time and thinking that went into this product. Not only does it offer solutions to an array of problems I’ve had in the past with plein air…but it keeps quality and durability in mind too. It feels satisfying and textured to the touch. You can tell there was a lot of planning into how the box was going to be used and intended with easy set-up in mind.
And of course, I’ve got to give attention to how wonderfully, beautiful the hue choices are! It’s a first time for me, to see a paint palette be given such a colorful treatment! I’ve already received several compliments on how beautiful the box is and is certainly a great conversation starter for those that curiously walk by.
Overall, I highly recommend anyone invested in wanting to explore into plein air painting with this palette box. It will make your painting experience much easier and fun compared to other products out there!
